Started the day with a walk around Old Mesilla, a historic
village which has been maintained in its original style. The cantina which we ate in last night is now a gift
store where Billy the Kid was arrested has its original tree branch ceilings in
place.
Maritta and Freinds. She wanted to take him home! |
Oldest brick building in New Mexico, constructed from hand made bricks in 1860 and is substantially unchanged |
The plaza has a variety of shops - gifts, food, books and history abounds. Maritta made a good start to the holiday buying up bits and pieces. Talking to the locals is facinating - you discover all sorts of interesting titbits.
We left old Mesilla and drove to our accomodation - the Dream Catcher Inn located out of Las Cruces where we are
stayning for the next three nights. It is north of Las Cruces - up against the
mountains but still on the valley floor.

For dinner we decided to go back into Las Cruces, about 15 miles, to Luna Rossa Winery and Pizzeria.
As we wheresitting near the kitchen, dinner entertainment was the chefs tossing the pizza bases. Picked up some nice wine to take back to the B&B.
Back at Dream Catcher it was time for a leisurely glass of wine and watch the magic as the sun went down for the night. Very hard to take.
